INLAYS & ONLAYS
What are Dental Inlays and Onlays?
They are a conservative alternative to complete crowns or fillings in the treatment of tooth decay and damage. The procedure is called an inlay when the material is placed in the middle of the tooth and an only when the material extends to the cusps and/or biting surface.
What is the Onlay and Inlay Dental Procedure?
Just as required with a crown, you will need two visits to our office. During the first visit, we will take impressions and X-rays. You will be fitted with temporary materials. We will then send the information to a dental lab to custom fabricate the inlay or onlay. It will be fitted and secured on your second visit.
What Materials do Inlays and Onlays Come in?
While they are always being updated and improved, currently porcelain or composite resin is most widely used. These materials are easiest to use for matching your natural tooth color.
